Seeking nothing less than dominion over all Middle-earth, Sauron wages war against a Last Alliance of Men and Elves. Though the allies of the West have fought their way to the very foot of Mount Doom in the land of Mordor where the Dark Lord reigns, his forces are vast and formidable.

Waves of vicious Orcs break again and again upon the lines of Elven King Gil-galad and Elendil of Númenor. Outnumbered and weary, the armies of light might yet prevail, but for the power of the One Ring, for striding out of the gloom beneath the Mountain of Fire is Sauron himself.

Towering above Man and Elf alike, the Dark Lord is a hideous figure of twisted, blackened metal with a tall, spiked helm. In his iron grip is a cruel mace, but the greatest weapon he wields is the magical Ring upon his gloved finger.

Fiery runes flash across its golden surface and power surges from it through the looming warrior, for within the Ring the Dark Lord has woven ancient and terrible magic, suffused with his own vile spirit. No soldier can stand against Sauron’s advance so long as the Ring remains his, for in it lies the power to dominate all life, and from it, only death can come.

“Only after working for such a long time on this character was I able to see how the original movie design, with all its details and beautiful forms, was a superb depiction of Sauron the Dark Lord.

  2. A good effort but disappointing
I received my Sauron in August 2022. Multiple helm spikes were broken upon unboxing him. Also the mace and the sword pieces were both distorted beyond simple repair. Weta customer service was great and tried to help. They sent another helm and sword piece and mace. Unfortunately the second helm also arrived with fractured horns, the second sword was fractured, and the second mace piece was distorted, although less than the first. They then sent a second replacement helm and it also arrived with fractured horns. I see many people were happy with their Sauron online, and it looks great in their pictures, but for me, it was a large disappointment, especially with the price. The helm, sword, and mace pieces should probably have been made out of different materials that were no so fragile and distortion prone. Weta customer service was helpful, but they can only do so much if the figure is engineered to be very delicate and the US Postal Service destroys things. I still have him displayed in my office, with his distortions and superglued parts....

  3. Great Sculpt, Fragile Durability
The sculpt is great and the details are beautiful, but it is EXTREMELY fragile, I accidentally, GENTLY, hit the hand holding the head of the mace with my elbow and the tip of the finger fell, then I was cleaning it very gently and carefully with a soft brush and three, THREE, of the spikes on one of the pauldrons broke off.
I am extremely shocked at the durability of such an expensive figure.

  5. Worth the wait and more
I also own the original SSW Sauron from twenty or so years ago, it is a great piece but this new one blows it out of the water completely. No surprise as production methods have gotten better in two decades, but the amount of detail showcased in the sculpt makes me quite certain this was 3D scanned from the original movie armor then digitally sculpted to appear as good as possible in shrunk down polystone form. Done by someone who knew what they were doing - the filigree patterns on each piece of armor are clear, detailed and just the right size - not too raised nor too faded. The pose is natural and to my surprise the Ring looks a lot better then I expected, and even tops the apparently real metal ring used for the first statue. The master ring in this iteration is painted gold, not yellow as production photos might make it seem and the red glowing runes are present clear and without any bleeding - great care and craftmanship in 1:6 scale even if Sauron is a giant. So is this statue, a giant achievement, with its accurate and delightful paintjob setting it head and shoulders above any other representation of the dark lord in statue form. The armor is no longer charred completely black in some areas like the first SSW statue, nor is it too shiny and silvery like it was made the day before battle. It has a dark metallic look enhanced by subtle but in the right lighting stunning oily greens, blues, yellows and purples. Quite similar to real steel exposed to high temperatures. Though in my head nothing less then a full mithril suit would have been good enough for the vain, cruel yet brilliant smith whose spirit radiates from this fantastic collectible, as if made by his old teacher Aulë himself and shipped to you from Middle-earth. Bravo to all involved, and a tip of the hat to whoever carries out the packaging design, once again you go above and beyond designing ways to get large multi part collectibles safely around the world.

  8. The Dark Lord Arrives!
As soon as I saw the massive box come off of the delivery truck, I knew this was going to be incredible. That sentiment only grew as I unpacked this massive and darkly gorgeous statue. The size, presence, sculpt, and paint are truly breathtaking in person. I\'ve always wanted a Sauron in my Middle-earth collection, and I am thrilled that it\'s this Sauron. Amazing as always, Weta artists!

This is my first non-classic edition/mini statue and WOW. What an absolute work of art! It is huge, and so full of detail. It makes my Classic-Series statues look like miniatures! Everything is incredible on it - well worth the purchase price.
