A dwarf warrior of great renown among his people, Dwalin the Dwarf, son of Fundin, was proficient with arms of all kinds. But when laying blows swiftly and against many adversaries at close quarters, he liked nothing better than the two single-handed axes he wore crossed upon his back.

Named Ukhlat and Umraz, the short-hafted axes were simple in shape, wide in blade and heavy in head. Upon their broad faces their Khuzdul names were carved in runes.

Dwalin's Axes were created for the film by the artists at Weta Workshop. Incredibly tough, yet safer than sharpened steel blades, they have been finished to a standard that can confidently be displayed in 3D, high resolution, at 48 frames per second in the finished movie.

These prop replicas have been created from molds of the original weapons used in the film, using the same high impact urethane material as the props on set, and finished using the same techniques and materials.

We have chosen to present our collector's edition of Hobbit weapons in the same material used for the making of the film props, to exactly replicate the techniques and artistry used in the films.

Richard Taylor - CEO & Co-founder, Weta Workshop

Dwalin's Axes are an Open Edition piece, and come with a reinforced polystone wall plaque for display, pride of place, on your wall.

Please Note - images are of a pre-production prototype. Each prop is painted by hand and slight variations will occur. Dimensions and weight are for each axe.

Weta Workshop’s authentic prop replicas are designed by the very same artists and technicians who work on our movies, using the same techniques and materials. We treat these prop replicas with the same level of care, quality and attention to detail that we bring to our film work.

  1. Amazing from afar
These are absolutely beautiful axes and really are incredible to look at. However I have to say that you can tell it isn\'t real wood when you hold them and I thought the wrapping would\'ve benefitted from being a faux leather rather than moulded in. Apart from that, from afar they look faultless and I can\'t wait to get these on the walls with the beautiful classic map plaque that Weta provides

  5. Excellent!
Heavy at hands, these axes are bigger than I expected. Very realistic. Wonderful wall display. Another great piece for my collection.

  6. Realistic
Probably the most realistic resin full size weapons I\'ve seen, and I own 14 different resin weapons from both Weta and United Cutlery. These look great and as always the plaque is very beautiful and stylish. I\'m very pleased, the wood looks like wood, the leather looks like leather and the metal looks like metal.
    Great work Weta!

  7. Very cool
The detail is incredible, particularly on the "metal" part of the axes. The only minor flaw, in my opinion, is the shafts don't look quite as much like real wood as I hoped. With that said, however, it is pretty minor and they certainly don't look bad.

The axes have quite a bit of heft to them, which is nice. They feel very well made. I found myself just picking them up and holding them several times to admire the craftsmanship prior to hanging them on my wall. I must say they look quite nice hanging on the wall.

Overall, I am pleased with Dwalin's Axes.

  9. As Magnificent as Dwalin Himself
This piece is just amazing, they have a sturdy weight and great details. I was concerned reading some other reviews about these reproductions looking "plasticky" but I have to admit these are TERRIFIC! A Great addition to any collection.
