Prop Replica
(W x H x L) 19 cm x 15.5 cm x 6 cm
Weight: 0.353 lbs (0.16 kg)

Among the members of the Company of Thorin Oakenshield, unique, exquisitely crafted pipes are a source of pride and much prized by their owners.

The pipe of Thorin Oakenshield is sturdy and of Dwarven make, carved in a warm-hued timber and only lightly ornamented with a scaled pattern upon the faces of its faceted bowl. Much like Thorin Oakenshield himself, the pipe is rugged and practical, without fanciful trappings and decoration proclaiming its owner's royal heritage.

The Pipe of Thorin Oakenshield was created for The Hobbit by the artists at the 3Foot7 Art Department. This non-functional prop replica has been created from molds of the original prop used in the film, using the same high impact urethane material as the props on set and finished using the same techniques and materials to achieve the same well-loved look as it has in the film.

Although we use steel and aluminium to make a lot of our swords, often we benefit from the casting of these in a high impact urethane, as we are able to capture the complexity of detail we are wishing to cast into some of our weapons. We have therefore chosen to present our collector's edition of Hobbit weapons in the same material used for the making of the film props, to exactly replicate the techniques and artistry used in the films.

Please note: The Pipe of Thorin Oakenshield was designed and prototyped here at the Workshop. Images are of pre-production prototype. Each piece is painted by hand and variations will occur.

This is a non-functional prop replica and comes with a polystone display stand.

Weta Workshop’s authentic prop replicas are designed by the very same artists and technicians who work on our movies, using the same techniques and materials. We treat our prop replicas with the same level of care, quality and attention to detail that we bring to our film work.

  2. Surprisingly AWESOME
Suppose like a lot of folks I was suspicious about urethane "anything". What?! But hey, what's good enough for the actors who had real and urethane props too, is good enough for me. So my first urethane piece IMO is a winner! The pipe has definite weight, like a heavy bottomed glass. Beautifully painted w. darkening on bowl and mouthpiece where you'd expect. Nice stand w. textured very dark espresso finish. It's a strange and great feeling holding something that was cast from the actual movie prop. I guess some folks would have like to actually smoke out of an ME pipe, but I don't smoke pipes LOL. Rather this has become a favorite collectible. Very happy purchase! Now I need more pipes!

  4. Beautiful as it is in the film
This is a long wanted item that I purchased recently, and the beauty of it is beyond my expectation! Looks exactly how it looks in the films. The pipe is large in a human hand. :D

  6. An unexpected quality...
Yes... I ordered this piece not very sure about urethane props.
I received it and it has change my mind about it.
It is perfect! Colour and weight matches perfectly the wood material it is supossed to be ... only the touch is a little bit cooler than normal wood.
The quality of details and paint job is awesome , I am very gratefully surprised with that point , as I am very exigent regarding painting jobs...
The pipe is really HUGE in size. It is done for an actor with prosthetic hands so it has to be bigger than a pipe for a human or hobbit.
The base is also well done and fits and display the prop securely and with a good presence.
I´ve made a review in the shadow and the flame forum with extra photos.
I recomend totally this purchase as it is an iconic piece of one of the main characters in the movie , and it could be seen in the Misty Mountains song scene.
And of course : it is made with molds of the original prop, so it is the closer to the original prop you can get!
