A dwarf of independent spirit and inclinations, Nori the Dwarf was accustomed to relying on himself and trusting his own resourcefulness to overcome the challenges that his adventures occasionally presented.

To that end, he was never a Dwarf to be caught without that most versatile of tools: a short, sharp knife.

Indeed, he carried a number on his person, secreted or worn openly; among them a short, broad bladed, double-edged design that fit snugly into his palm and could be drawn or concealed in the blur of a seemingly innocent gesture.

These prop replicas have been created from molds of the original weapons used in the film, using the same high impact urethane material as the props on set and finished using the same techniques and materials.

We have chosen to present our collector's edition of Hobbit weapons in the same material used for the making of the film props, to exactly replicate the techniques and artistry used in the films.

  3. I love them!!
I must say that I read the description for the knives over and over, I wasn't comfortable with the idea of the knives being made out of polyurethane. The knives are a cast from the real thing so yeah...that sold me. I got them I love how they look, the shape, color, and display plaque it so gorgeous. But me being a sword collector for LOTR, still feel that some level of magic was taken from the props by being made from polyurethane. I will purchase all other props from Weta for the Hobbit because I do love them.

  5. Beautiful
This item is 99% perfect. The knives themselves are glorious! Heavy, chunky weathered looking items, and much bigger than I expected!

There is one slight issue (not enough to warrent the loss of a star, but more of a warning to people planning on buying these). The wall display is made to grip the knives tightly, and it scuffs the paint! I'm afraid to mount mine atm, until I can do some kind of makeshift fix.

All in all though, don't be put off. These are gorgeous little items, and I'm more than glad to have them :)

  7. Stunning craftsmanship
I was a little hesitant about purchasing these knives given that, unlike the prop replicas for Lord of the Rings, they aren't made of metal. However, upon receiving them today I am thoroughly impressed.

The "high impact urethane" obviously lacks the genuine look and feel of metal - the dulled edges of each blade are the obvious differences - but the level of detail put into decorating each of them is, quite frankly, nothing short of superb. Even upon very close inspection, both the blade and hilt look incredibly realistic.

Another thing worth mentioning about these knives is the weight. Upon picking them up for the first time I found that they were considerably heavier than I'd expected them to be. This was a welcome surprise because, once again, it makes them seem that little bit more realistic when held.

Not only are the knives themselves outstanding, but the wall plaque is also a thing of beauty. It isn't fully visible within the pictures shown on the shop page (at least not at the time of writing), but etched into the plaque is a section of Thorin's map depicting the Lonely Mountain.

Thanks, Weta, for yet another outstanding item! If you're in doubt as to whether or not to buy these I can assure you that they are worth every penny, particularly if, like me, you are a die-hard fan.
