Scattered among the grassy hills of Hobbiton like a purse full of lost coins, the bright round doors of many dozen Hobbit-holes shine in bright, summery hues, each home to a Hobbit or family of the little people.

As diverse as the rosy-cheeked Hobbits themselves, every smial, as Hobbit-holes are known, reflects the unique personality of its inhabitant and nestles into the hillside amid a sea of lush greenery.

Crowned by the resplendent Bag End, Bagshot Row is dotted with a handful of more modest dwellings, bearing wreaths of flowers and painted door faces.

Neighbouring Bilbo Baggins on the left is the warm red door of number 40 Bagshot Row, a humble Hobbit-hole when compared to Bag End, modestly dressed with small white flowers and a stone slab porch. Well kept in true Hobbit fashion, it overlooks the Party Field and the Party Tree and is the second home in a series of collectible Hobbit Hole environments from the artists at Weta Workshop.

Because of the relationship we have with all the production parts of the process, we have access to everything from concept drawings to set plans, which is really handy when making things like the Hobbit Holes.

Leonard Ellis - Sculptor & Model Maker, Wētā Workshop

Each an individual dwelling, the Hobbit holes lend themselves splendidly to creative placement in your cabinet. With a flat back and shallow depth of only 55mm, they can be placed on mantles, cornices, shelves and in windows.

This gorgeous little environment is an exacting miniature replica of the movie set that can be visited at Hobbiton in Matamata, New Zealand. It was designed by the same artists and craftspeople who worked on the movie.

40 Bagshot Row is an Open Edition piece. Please note: This miniature environment was designed and prototyped here at the Workshop. Images are of a pre-production prototype. Each piece is hand painted and slight variations will occur.

  1. Hobbiton in my house
After visiting Hobbiton in 2020 I was looking for keeping that great feeling of the visit alive when I returned home. I decided to buy 40 Bagshot Row because it was the only hole you were allowed in, and ofcourse have a photo op.

This model is almost exactly like the one I am posing with and is great in every detail.

    No regrets buying this one!

  2. Beautiful
Got this from my Weta surprise box and I am still amazed about how detailed this house is. My boyfriend got the same house and it is nice too see slightly differences in the color, so that each house you own is unique in it\'s own way.

    Totally would buy this !

Since we have received this one we bought some more because they are just amazing !

  5. Hobbit fans you need this one
After months of indecision on adding this piece to my collection, I bit the bullet. The box arrived on my doorstep(really small box) and upon opening - WOW - pictures on WETA's shop site do not do this jewel justice. The wood grain, the entry way paving stones, the fire wood to the left of the door, the flowers to the right, even the texture of the plants and grass are fantastic! Thank you David Tremont and Leonard Ellis. What a wonderful piece.

  6. Just awesome
These Hobbit holes (Smials) are a wonderful collectible for the price. These are currently my favourite pieces. The Sculpt is amazing, but that is to be expected with David Tremont and Leonard Ellis. The paint work is clean and looks great. It holds up very well to close inspection. As a side note - this is the only Hobbit Hole that you can actually go in to on the Hobbiton tour. Highly recommend this collectible.
