OUR STORY

For more than 27 years, Weta Workshop has created creatures, characters, and entire worlds for the screen - all from our home in Wellington, New Zealand. For a mammoth seven years, we helped to bring The Lord of the Rings to life, crafting thousands of props, costumes, weapons, armour, and miniatures! We've worked on some of the world's coolest movies like Avatar and King Kong, and even picked up five Academy Awards along the way. We're a busy bunch.

OUR COLLECTIBLES

When The Fellowship of the Ring landed in 2001, we weren't about to let the world of Middle-earth stop at the screen. We set about bringing it to shelves, cabinets, and tabletops across the globe! Channelling all that passion and artistry into beautiful statues, these amazing pieces were designed by the same Weta Workshop artists who work on our film projects. And it is still that way today.

OUR MINI EPICS

15 years on, fans' insatiable hunger for all things Middle-earth shows no sign of slowing. Which got us here at the Workshop thinking: what else could we do to bring this EPIC world to collectors and film lovers across the globe? The answer: cool and quirky vinyl collectibles, straight from Middle-earth itself. MINI EPICS! Endlessly collectible. Totally adorable. These pint-sized figures have BIG personalities. And we're only just getting started...

  1. Perfect pretty Gollum
    Quality
    100%
Detailed and created with a lot of love.
Stands perfectly - with or without a base.

  2. Nice little figure
Great sculpt and portrayal of gollum, nicely painted too. Only issue is feet and hand don\'t line up so he won\'t stand up on his own and looks a bit wonky once secured to the base

  3. My favourite character in a new form
While at the Weta Cave recently, I picked up this figure to add to my Gollum collection. I fell in love with him instantly and couldn\'t wait to own him.

Am not sure why people are worried about the balance of the figure. Mine stays on the shelf and in the box...the words Mint Condition still mean something to me.

Will be adding more to my collection soon

  4. dumb design - cannot stand up on its own - would not buy
another Weta dumb design - cannot stand up on its own - requires the plastic base pin - DOH!

similarly stupid to design of the display base for its Rayguns - poorly designed - bends metal pin to point of failure

  5. Fun design
I see some people complained about the balance but have had no issues with mine at all. Great design evocative of the character

  6. Gollum Mini Epic
I was surprised by the negative reviews I saw on this figure. While it is true that the hands and feet don\'t line up perfectly with the surface, he stands perfectly when placed on the base. Besides that, the figure conveys the tragedy of Smeagol while keeping things fun -- a truly difficult task. Personally, I love it!

  7. This is not WETA standard - #Gollumgate
This is simply not a product that should have been released under the WETA brand - first of all the cast leaves the figure with a space under each of left foot and left arm where it should be connected to the ground and/or it\'s base (looks like amateur hour in the casting department), next this figure will fall over flat on it\'s face if it is not fixed to it\'s base and finally there is an ugly mould line running the entirety of the back of it\'s head; another customer has compared this to it looking like Gollum had brain surgery and was badly stitched together, which is not unprecise.

All in all, even though this looks like a good model of Gollum that execution is lacking and disappointing - a figure that cannot stand on it\'s own and which clearly should have been caught and fixed in quality control.

  8. Falls Flat On It\'s Face
Love the design and detail on these.
The scale makes them interesting compared to Funkos.
However this fella will not stand. Skipping leg days means this gollum tumbles and crumbles under the weight of it\'s head and falls over every time!

  9. Follow up
Who changes “helpful” or “not helpful”? When my review was first listed it had a helpful check, now not so much. As to another reviewer why should I have to boil water or use a hair drier? I paid almost $38.00 each to ship to US. I can buy a Funko Pop for $10.00 that sits completely flat out of the box. I have quite a few Weta Statues that I paid Lots more money for and am quite happy with. Quality is so-so. I have seam on Frodos coat both back and front that run horizontally, and the back of Gollum’s head looks like he had brain surgery, unlike the photos here which show everything as perfect. I did not want to go there but Weta changing helpfuls and being told to fix it myself is annoying.

  10. Cute Gollum
Well, I wouldn\'t be too concerned about the toes or feet not being perfectly aligned or flat on the base. PVC is a thermoplastic. Easy to set it right by heating the affected area with a hair-dryer or hot near boiling water until the plastic softens enough to bend the foot into position. HOLD in position while the plastic figure part is warm to hot, until cools down and it should stay in the new position.
He\'s a cute little figure and not bad for the price.

  11. Quality check?
Neither Gollum or Frodo kneel/stand flat on base.
Gollum’s heel fits into whole on base and points up while hand with rock (attached to knee) will not sit flush on base, and left leg with toes bent only the big toe will touch base. You sorta can bend them but they just go back to original position. If you have them above your eyeline or way below not much of a problem, but, for $30.+US they should stand flat. Same with Frodo’s right foot, left is flat but Only the heel on right foot touches base.
