Wētā Workshop is excited to dive into the world of Thra and create premium collectibles for the prequel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which tells a new story, set many years before the events of the 1982 movie. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, the fires of rebellion are kindled and an epic battle for survival begins.
While his fellow urRu seclude themselves from the outside world, the enigmatic Mystic urVa travels the wildernesses of Thra, watching and listening to the shifting balance of the world. Known as the Archer, and bearing a bow that doubles as a staff, the seemingly slow-moving warrior is surprisingly stealthy and swift when need arises.
urVa's counterpart is the most feared Skeksis of all, the ferocious Hunter. skekMal is a relentless, predatory warrior that even other Skeksis hold in awe. Although the Archer’s senses are as keen and his marksmanship unmatched, he lets his arrows fly not to kill, but to steer the course of destiny. His bravery is that of one who fights not to preserve his own life, but that of others; wielding his own mortality as adeptly as any bow or blade in the service of freedom and light.

OUR DARK CRYSTAL COLLECTIBLES
So rich and visionary was Jim Henson’s 1982 passion project that it inspired dreamers across the creative arts, including a whole generation of film effects artists now working at Wētā Workshop. Released at a time when many of our crew were young and beginning to explore their own creative energies, The Dark Crystal was an eye-opener: it was possible to bring imaginary worlds to life, and it could be a career! For years, those of us who had fallen in love with this world hoped that someday Thra might return to our screens. Thanks to Netflix, it has, and now we have the chance to express our fandom by creating super faithful, highly detailed collectible figures and prop replicas from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Considering this is Weta Workshop\'s first sculpt of a Mystic/UrRu I think they have got the design spot on!, every gorgeous swirling wrinkle in the face and arms are so like the ones on the official puppet I can\'t tell any difference, the level of detail on the flowing hair is phenomenal and the detail put into each arrow and the beautiful pottery like armor is truly outstanding. I would love to see another Mystic or two added to this Dark Crystal collection soon.

Incredible Sculpt
This sculpt looks absolutely fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by how little assembly was required. There are four main statue pieces: the base, urVa himself, his quiver with arrows, and his tail. There are also three secondary pieces that can be placed anywhere on the statue: two arrows, and one little creature of Thra. The statue itself is a bit on the heavy side, but the sculpt is extremely well balanced. He\'s standing on a bluff, but the statue never feels like it\'s in any danger of falling over. Fantastic weight distribution. The detailing is awesome, the paint job is awesome. I really have nothing bad to say about this statue. Extremely well done!
