Martin Baynton, children's author, creator of Jane and the Dragon and co-creator of the WotWots is a member of a great organisation called Adventure Wellington who get together every weekend to do great and wonderful things together.
On Sunday 25th November 2012, Adventure Wellington will embark on its greatest challenge yet, to break the Guinness World Record for the most sandcastles built in one hour!
This will take place on Wellington's Lyall Bay Beach. Check out all the details on the Adventure Wellington site.
A very special guest in town for the Hobbit World Premiere will be hosting this world record attempt, and thanks to Air New Zealand -- every $10 you pledge to The Neonatal Trust, you'll get another chance to win two tickets for your friends or family to fly to Wellington from anywhere in the world and join in!
There are four global tickets to give away, and many many other prizes - check out the details of how to pledge and be in to win!
All proceeds from the event go to the Neonatal Trust of New Zealand, where Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger are patrons. Weta Workshop is contributing specially designed and manufactured sandcastle building buckets for the event.
If there is one event you really don't want to miss, it's this one!
There is no limit on the number of people, and the Wellington City Council are closing down Lyall Bay beach for the attempt! This is going to be epic.
For those with families, there will be a special kids section of the beach hosted by Bunnings and their red shirt army, and catered by Southern Cross Garden Bar Restaurant.
