A spear of stone rose into the upper airs, its jagged crown ever mantled with snow and shrouded in restless cloud. There, upon the peak, stood Durin’s Tower; once sturdy dwarven stone, now cleft by elemental fury, as shadow met light and dark flame was extinguished by storm.

From concept to sculpt, modelling and paint, our artists poured their all into bringing Zirakzigil to life: The same storied peak where Gandalf and the Balrog met in their final, fateful clash.

Every jagged edge of stone and weather-worn block of dwarven architecture was shaped with reverence for the deep history it contains.

The team studied the mountain’s place in the legendarium, and the momentous impact struck upon its tower by the clash of ancient mythical forces. What emerged was a miniature environment that feels as though it was lifted from the pages themselves, a piece of Middle-earth shaped by steady hands and quiet passion.

FEATURES:

  • Open Edition;
  • Made primarily from polystone;
  • 360° environment design;
  • Depicts the iconic ruins where Gandalf slew the Balrog at the cost of his own life;
  • Made with reference to the original miniature, as seen in The Lord of the Rings;
  • Architecture digitally sculpted by Charlotte Key;
  • Environment physically sculpted by Shaun Bolton.

We consider ourselves very fortunate when we tackle an environment like this because, of course, we’ve got access to such an amazing wealth of reference.

Please note: Images are of a pre-production prototype. Some variations may occur.

It takes hundreds of hours to design, sculpt, model make, mold, and paint the prototype for each new Middle-earth piece. Whether it be a prop replica, beautiful environment, or iconic character, we treat our collectibles with the same level of care and attention to detail that we bring to our film work.
