Wētā Workshop is excited to dive into the world of Thra and create premium collectibles for the prequel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which tells a new story, set many years before the events of the 1982 movie. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, the fires of rebellion are kindled and an epic battle for survival begins.

As the eldest daughter and heir of All-Maudra Mayrin, Queen of the seven Gelfling clans, Seladon had devoted herself to the duties of one bound to wear the crown.

Despite her diligence and self-sacrifice, the princess never felt appreciated by her mother, and begrudged what she perceived as an irresponsible indulgence of her youngest sister Brea’s whimsical flights of fantasy.

When turmoil and heresy engulf the Gelfling, Seladon seeks to preserve the order and stability of Skeksis rule that have kept her family in power. Betrayed when her mother sides with Brea, Seladon disavows bonds of family and love, branding Brea traitor and blaming her when the Skeksis murder the All-Maudra.

Facing challenges from all sides, Seladon clads herself in an armoured dress and crown of her own creation, fashioned in the likeness of the draconic lords whom she is sure will support her claim to the title of All-Maudra.

In order to replicate the fabric qualities of Seldon’s gown, painter Jules German applied layers of translucent blues and purples over a metallic silver base. Finished with selective dashes of pearlescent paint, he was able to achieve a greater sense of depth and texture.

These collectibles were a dream to art direct. I feel like a Skeksis sitting at the banquet table, ready to feast on the amazing opportunities before me. There is so much to choose from!

Please note: images are of a pre-production prototype. Each sculpture is hand painted and minor variations will occur.

Seladon the Gelfling is an Open Edition statue, meaning it is not restricted to a specific number of reproductions. However, this does not guarantee Wētā Workshop will continue to produce the statue in the future. We recommend purchasing your Open Edition statue early to avoid disappointment.

So rich and visionary was Jim Henson’s 1982 passion project that it inspired dreamers across the creative arts, including a whole generation of film effects artists now working at Wētā Workshop. Released at a time when many of our crew were young and beginning to explore their own creative energies, The Dark Crystal was an eye-opener: it was possible to bring imaginary worlds to life, and it could be a career! For years, those of us who had fallen in love with this world hoped that someday Thra might return to our screens. Thanks to Netflix, it has, and now we have the chance to express our fandom by creating super faithful, highly detailed collectible figures and prop replicas from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

And we’re just getting started! More Dark Crystal collectibles are coming soon.

  1. Super fragile
Arrived with broken wings due to poor packaging. Still don’t understand why they are made insanely fragile. 3 of my 6 dark crystal pieces have broke on there own just sitting in the display case. Weta should acknowledge this. Why make tiny tiny pieces out of poly stone. Why not a high em pact vinyls or rubber.
Sadly I will not try to finish this collection.

  2. Never received my Seladon
I ordered this statue almost a month ago. The only info I got from UPS was that a shipping label was made. When I talked to UPS that was the only information they had from WETA. UPS also told me to contact WETA. I understand WETA is understaffed and that is fine. I addressed the issue to WETA and I was told once it leaves their warehouse it is out of their control and I get that. But the only info UPS got was a label was created. WETA told me they were going to look into this. I haven\'t heard back because apparently it is not a big deal that I almost spent 200 bucks on this state. WETA is the one who is responsible for losing this not me. Bit apparently they don\'t seem to care if they lose something. They were the ones processing this item to ship out not me. Now, I pretty much threw out almost 200 dollars and WETA doesn\'t see to give a crap. I really thought this was a great company. I guess I was wrong.
