Winner of seventeen Academy Awards, The Lord of the Rings was brought to the big screen by New Line Cinema and directed by Peter Jackson. Weta Workshop was intrinsically involved in the design and physical effects manufacture for all three films.

PARCHMENT MAP OF MIDDLE-EARTH

Dimensions:
(W x H x L) 58 cm x 56 cm x 0.1 cm
Weight: 0.22 lbs (0.1 kg)

Daniel Reeve's map of Middle-earth is well known to fans of The Lord of the Rings.

The Shire, Rivendell, Lorien, Rohan, Fangorn, Gondor - they are all there, the familiar milestones along the Fellowship's journey to Mordor, exactly as seen in the films and in the DVD extras.

Our authentic prop replicas and collectibles are created by the very same artists who have worked on the three films, so effectively they come straight from Middle-earth.

Richard Taylor - CEO & Co-founder, Weta Workshop

This map is a direct scan from the original map hand-drawn by Daniel Reeve.

Printed right here in Middle-earth (New Zealand) on high quality parchment paper with die-cut deckled edges.

Daniel Reeve is a freelance artist from New Zealand. He is most well known for the calligraphy and cartography on the film trilogy of The Lord of the Rings, but has also worked on Van Helsing, King Kong, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Dead Letters, The Warrior's Way, Underworld 3, Kingdom Come, Spartacus, Tintin and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

  3. Beautiful
Although it\'s not thick parchment paper, it\'s also not a cheap poster. This beautiful map is perfect for LotR fans who want a piece of Middle-Earth in their homes without spending a lot of money. It would look great in any home. Follow the Fellowship\'s journey as you watch the movies or read the books. Fantastic!

  4. Excellent size and quality!
Arrived safely, and is a wonderful map of Middle-earth! The paper quality is better than your typical poster paper! I cannot wait to order a frame for this!

  5. J\'adore!

  6. Well Done!
I have wanted a map of Middle Earth for quite some time. I have been a fan of Tolkien for years - yes, well before the films! I decided to order from WETA as opposed to the retailers in the US. I couldn\'t be happier. The look and feel of the map is fantastic. Shipping was fast! I ordered via the website on Sept 10 and received it in the US on the 14th! Packaging was excellent. The map arrived in perfect condition!

  9. Nice backdrop for my Lego Tower of Orthanc
This is a very nice detailed map. It is not however on what I would call parchment paper. Parchment paper is much thicker and feels amazing in your hand.

The paper this is printed on is no thicker than the paper you put in your laser printer, but it does have a very porous texture which is nice. I do wish this was printed on parchment paper, it would truly be fantastic. Oh well.

I like that this was shipped inside of a plastic sleeve which was then rolled and place in a very sturdy tube. Great protection! You could almost display it in the sleeve if you don't want it collecting dust and fingerpint oil.

I would say to Weta that you really should tape the caps on the shipping tube though. Fortunately mine made it just fine. I'm impressed it only took 12 days to the U.S.

This will look fantastic on the wall behind my Lego Tower of Orthanc.

  11. Average 2
I have to agree with user Merike. I was disappointed at the quality of this item. I think I was seduced by talk of "parchment" and "film prop" in reality the feel of this piece is like somebody at work has printed it off for you. Given Weta's quality work I was expecting something altogether heavier and more authentic feeling :-(

  12. Average
Sure, no parchment for this price, but... Although the map looks beautiful, the paper feels like the supermarket receipt. Really disappointed in the quality of paper. I'm afraid it won't last long even when properly framed with acid free matting.

  14. Not Worth it
I received the map today. Pulled it out of the tube. It had several crease marks. It is not suitable for framing. It is not parchment either. It is off-white paper printed on one side to look like parchment. Toy for grandson.

  17. Middle-Earth map
Having the large map of Middle-Earth gives me something easier to read than the one in the book. Tracing the paths of Frodo and his friends was fun. Now I can do the same thing with Bilbo and his bunch. It is very detailed and well designed. It actually looks like an antique map. It came quickly and was very well packed to prevent any tears or creases. Love having this.

  20. An Essential Map
This map is made from genuine parchment. If you have a love for the lore of Middle Earth, then you really need to get this map. And it deserves to be framed. Mine's still in its dowel, waiting to be framed properly. It's worth it.

  22. Lovely
Great looking map, the only problem that I have with it at all is the near uniformity of color. I get that it is the theme, but I might have gone a different direction. I don't think some of these people understand how the stars work for ratings.

  23. Beautiful!
This map was so much more then I expected it to be. It's detailed, beautiful, and just plain awesome. Gotta love it when your children jump up, and say Mommy! There's Erebor! There's Mirkwood. Thanks Weta for the beautiful artwork. I can't wait for more!

  25. The only Tolkien Middle Earth map you need
Firstly, let's get this out of the way ... yes ... it really is parchment. It's not paper designed to look like parchment, it actually IS parchment.

This is a quality piece for anyone that's ever loved Tolkien for more than a single summer reading session.

Buy it and frame it. In a wooden frame. Do it justice!
