From the fluid motion of the circling sharks to the coral-encrusted ruins littering the sea floor, every element is carefully designed to evoke the danger, beauty, and mythic scale of Lara’s underwater quest. Hidden among the ruins, a school of fish darts between crumbling stones, adding life and movement to the scene.

There’s a poetry to this pose; as if Lara is dancing with the sharks, weightless and fearless. Sculpting her underwater meant letting go of gravity, which goes against the usual instinct of a sculptor. But that challenge was part of the thrill. I especially loved capturing her form, that perfect balance of strength, elegance, beauty and danger that defines Lara Croft.
