Wētā Workshop is excited to dive into the world of Thra and create premium collectibles for the prequel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which tells a new story, set many years before the events of the 1982 movie. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, the fires of rebellion are kindled and an epic battle for survival begins.
Among the peoples of Thra Podlings might be thought of as least, given their humbleness and short stature. Living uncomplicated lives and delighting in simple pleasures, Podlings are usually peripheral to acts of boldness and heroism, but Hup is no ordinary Podling. What he might lack in physical presence, Hup more than makes up for in heart. Earnest and brave, with a deep sense of justice and loyalty, his dream is to be the first Podling Paladin to serve the All-Maudra.
But the Podling must set aside his hopes of recruitment when he meets the Gelfling Deet, instead becoming companion and protector to the Grottan on the perilous quest that has brought her above ground. No better friend will Deet find in Hup, and she will come to need the brave Podling’s help, for the burden of knowledge she bears and the dangerous path she must walk cannot be managed alone.

AN ICONIC PAIRING The special base design across Weta Workshop’s 1:6 scale Dark Crystal range was modified for our dynamic duo: Deet the Gelfling partners perfectly with Hup! The crescent shape of the Gelfling’s base connects with the circular base of the brave Podling. Although available as standalone statues, we recommend displaying them together as one heroic pair, straight from the fantastical world of Thra.
These collectibles were a dream to art direct. I feel like a Skeksis sitting at the banquet table, ready to feast on the amazing opportunities before me. There is so much to choose from!

OUR DARK CRYSTAL COLLECTIBLES
So rich and visionary was Jim Henson’s 1982 passion project that it inspired dreamers across the creative arts, including a whole generation of film effects artists now working at Wētā Workshop. Released at a time when many of our crew were young and beginning to explore their own creative energies, The Dark Crystal was an eye-opener: it was possible to bring imaginary worlds to life, and it could be a career! For years, those of us who had fallen in love with this world hoped that someday Thra might return to our screens. Thanks to Netflix, it has, and now we have the chance to express our fandom by creating super faithful, highly detailed collectible figures and prop replicas from TheDark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

I fell in love with Hup while watching the series and once again Steven Saunders manages to encapsulate the best moments of the characters in their poses and facial expressions. The detailing had me ecstatic and the packaging team at Weta Workshop did such an amazing job that even when the whole thing was opened by bio security in Australia and repackaged, nothing was broken. The paint job on this is brilliant as well! I have been thinking on buying a statue from Weta for a long time now and Hup was a wonderful introduction to the world of collecting. I have since preordered \'The Archer\' and \'The Hunter\' figurines have full faith that I will be just as, if not more impressed with the incredible sculpting and design of the team at Weta Workshop. Keep doing what you love guys, because it certainly shows in the final product!

Another master piece by weta, the level of detail that\'s gone into this little fella is exceptional, can\'t wait to complete the collection from a fantastic new series which I have to say I was a little bit nervous about as I love the film but I was pleasantly surprised by it as it turned out to be one of my favourite series ever and then for weta to bring out these amazing statues has made my year

Easily one of the stand out characters in the new series. Great little statue, packed with details and impressive paint app for such a small character. Nice weighty base too. Looking forward to the Emperor.
