Foremost among the Dark Lord Sauron’s devices of war was Grond, Hammer of the Underworld.

A great battering ram fashioned after the snarling visage of a wolf, with flames licking its jaws and burning within its eyes, Grond was a terror to behold. Etched with spells of ruin and hung from a towering gantry, the ram was dragged many miles from the dark foundries of Mordor to the gates of Minas Tirith, a city under siege. Before the White City’s walls, Trolls took up chains to swing the mighty wolf’s head, shattering the gates, spilling Orcs, Trolls, Wargs and worse to sack and slay within.

Our authentic prop replicas and collectibles are designed by the very same artists who have worked on the three films, so effectively they come straight from Middle-earth.

Richard Taylor - CEO & Co-founder, Weta Workshop

  2. Absolutely stunning!
I received my Grond yesterday after picking one up on eBay. The environment is a credit to Dave Tremont, Leonard Ellis and all the team at Weta; the amount of fine detail worked into the piece beggars belief...I can\'t stop looking at it! As a model maker myself, I can really appreciate the amount of work that went into creating it. I can only hope to one day be half as good as David and Leonard. 5 stars!!!

  3. AMAZING!!
I didn\'t realize Weta continues to make amazing \"Middle Earth\" art to this day! The last pieces I purchased were The Balrog and a large Sauron. When Sideshow stopped making what I loved I assumed it was over. I just received my Grond today! It is so beautiful and it rekindled the joy I had collecting these pieces!! I wish I knew Weta continued this dream!

I added 4 Eaglemoss Beast and one batle orc and this is really amazing. Expensive, but it\'s worth.

  6. The time of the Orc\'s has come.
I was a long time campaigner for this piece and was thrilled when Weta finally confirmed they were to \'bring up the Wolf\'s head!\'
Price wise it was a shocker, but the more you look at what went into this beast you see why. Grond itself is as sleek and mean looking as he is on screen. No details have been spared in his recreation. From scaling plates to Black Speech runes engraved on his head and body, the artists have gone to great lengths to make this look right.
The cradle in which Grond sits is equally well detailed. We get to see snatches of the mighty Hammer of the Underworld as it crawls towards Minas Tirith and it is easy to miss the intricately structured frame. But again it is all here to explore; the crudely spiked brazier towers, the rickety fenced boardwalk and the crushing spiked wheels. Lots and lots of detail.
He comes in 3 well packed sections: Base, Cradle and Grond.
He also swings on 6 chains which are a bit fiddly to hook up.
Paint job is a dirty, rusty colour for the cradle and a more lead like, duller tone to Grond with some rusted iron highlights.
Awesome piece that will make you want to build it\'s own diorama!

  7. The fearsome Grond
A model I always hoped would be produced. Now I have the model I am amazed at the level of detail and my wish was certainly granted.

  9. Grond is here!
I have been waiting for this piece to come available ever since it showed on Facebook! The details look amazing, and I like that so much work went into a figure only shown for a short time in the film. It shows the quality of WETA pieces......

Have just ordered my most expensive purchase to date.So glad it\'s a low edition of 500.Just makes it that bit easier to hand over the cash.Think this will sell out quickly in NZ and US.Maybe slower in EU due to the vat.Living in the EU myself I just had to bite the bullet and buy it.I have waited sooooo long for this piece.
