The greatest city of Gondor, the citadel of Minas Tirith is a towering, fortified community built into the side of the White Mountains.

Minas Tirith has seven levels, divided by concentric walls and crowned by the Tower of Ecthelion and the Court of the Fountain, where grows the White Tree of Gondor. Bisecting the city, a great rock abutment sprouts from the mountainside like the prow of a ship.

When war comes to Gondor, Minas Tirith is besieged by the forces of Mordor to the East. Riding to the defense of the city from Rohan and beyond, the free peoples of Middle-earth mount their last stand against the Dark Lord's overwhelming forces at Minas Tirith.

Our authentic prop replicas and collectibles are designed by the very same artists who have worked on the three films, so effectively they come straight from Middle-earth.

Richard Taylor - CEO & Co-founder, Wētā Workshop

The iconic Minas Tirith environment from Wētā Workshop is an Open Edition piece, based on the very same miniature that was featured in The Lord of the Rings film. Eight people poured over 1,000 hours of creativity and exacting attention to detail into this beautiful, intricate sculpture.

Please note: This miniature environment was designed and prototyped here at the Workshop. Images are of a pre-production prototype. This product is hand painted and variations will occur.

Wētā Workshop’s high-quality collectibles are designed by the very same artists and technicians who work on our movies. Whether it be a prop replica, beautiful environment or iconic character, we treat our collectibles with the same level of care and attention to detail that we bring to our film work.

  2. Amazing piece of Middle Earth
    Quality
    100%
I was not fortunate enough to purchase this miniature when first released, but recently purchased the re-release. It is quite incredible in detail and scale. While some complained of the lack of the White Tree, this re-release does have a small piece where the White Tree would be found. While granted, it does not look much like a tree, let alone the White Tree as in the films or books, it is but a minor detail in this otherwise awesome piece of workmanship. I, for one, am extremely happy with this miniature, and look forward to appreciating it always.

  3. Beautiful!
Yes, the White Tree is pretty small and lacks of detail, but it\'s okay for the size of the Minature. Would definitively recommend buying it!

  5. Epic
This is no way \"too small\"this piece was worth every penny!
Unless you plan on sticking your barbies in it, it\'s big enough for any collectors already full space. The White tree seems pretty trivial when you look upon all the amazing detail and effort put in this piece. If your that hard up for a tree get some play doh. After all Leonard Ellis did everything else for you.
You will not regret owning this!!
Keep up the great work Weta!

  7. Would Have Been Perfect
I was thinking about getting this, however it is true, the white tree is too symbolic for me to be missing. It doesn't even have to be a detailed tree, but anything that looks like a tree that could symbolize the king's tree would have sufficed for me. The $600 price tag also kept me on the fence cause I can't really return it if I'm not happy. If Weta had a monthly payment plan maybe I would buy it.

  8. Almost Accurate
I agree with xueyue30. It is missing The White Tree of Gondor. And, I'm not entirely sure,, but I think it's missing the part where Denethor ran off the cliff.

  9. Disappointed
This is the first piece from Weta that was disappointing on so many levels. First, the delivery was supposed to be the last quarter of 2015. Didn't arrive. No replies to my messages/emails/contact on social media. It eventually arrived in April 2016. No apology for lateness. No explanation. The product itself is nowhere near as detailed as Rivendell - so why the higher price? And finally, where is the White Tree? I can't believe something so iconic to the landscape was omitted. I wouldn't recommend this collectable.

  10. This is Minas Tirith
Far better than the little one I originally had from the Lotr Films. Only thing missing is the Tree but I can understand the mechanics of such a tiny piece. The details are incredible; I spent long hours looking into each "window" and "doorway" following the streets; even to the Silent Street. Impressive piece of work.

  11. SO SO Piece
Not even close to the quality of their other pieces. Had to display it up high to avoid folks looking too closely. The first piece from WETA that I found very disappointing.

  12. WOW
This thing is incredibly intricate. It is amazingly detailed and just awe-inspiring. The size is perfect, the aesthetic immaculate. I cannot say this enough: This is a must-have for any serious LOTR fan.

  13. Amazing detail, great workmanship
First of all I have to say this piece is amazingly detailed and the workmanship that has gone into producing it is quite astounding. It really is a beautiful piece and a work of art. However, those who have Barad-dur and were expecting a similar epic sized environment will be disappointed in the overall impact of this piece. Whilst it sits on a base exactly the same size as Barad-dur, it is pretty much 3 times less in height meaning the whole environment is reduced as a scale replica. The dimensions of the piece are clearly stated on the product page so there was every opportunity for me to spot the size difference but I have to admit my heart sank a little when the box was delivered. I knew then that this wasn't going to be quite the companion to Barad-dur that I had planned in my head. As a stand alone piece the size is adequate and shouldn't put people off ordering.
My only other slight disappointment is the colour of the environment. It's more the grey city of Gondor rather than the white city of Gondor. Of course I don't want a glowing brilliant white paint job and I like the weathered feel to the city but a shade of white lighter than what they've used would add greater contrast between the city and the mountains and lift the whole piece quite substantially.
For those who have complained about the missing White Tree of Gondor (myself included), stop complaining as now I have the piece in hand I can tell you that there is no way at this scale they could have added a piece which would have resembled anything like a tree. Think of a tiny matchstick head and then think about sculpting branches out of it.
For me, as soon as I saw this product it was a case of 'just take my money', I was always going to get Minas Tirith for my collection. Is it worth the very high price tag? I'm sat on the fence a bit to be honest. I can see the huge amount of work that has clearly gone into this and believe that this level of work is what I want from all Weta products. Who am I to say this piece isn't worth the money, I understand there are huge costs which go into these products. Is Minas Tirith as awesome and epic as Barad-dur? Probably not, and as an open edition or at least without an exclusive collectors edition, the price point should have been below Barad-dur. So for people like me who want the greatest city in Middle Earth in their collection I recommend it wholeheartedly and don't think anyone will be disappointed with their purchase.

  16. Shut up and take my money
To be quite frank, I knew that the second this was released price wasn't going to matter - I needed it as a companion to Rivendell, Edoras, and Bag End. Thanks so much for finally doing this! I cannot wait!

  17. Weta heading the wrong way.
OVER PRICED!It's as simple as that. For a lot of loyal collectors prices lately on a lot of the pieces are crazy.Customer service might be all and well but keep pushing up the prices and Weta will not have to worry about customer service again,we will not be there.Sideshow prices from Weta, who would have thought it?

  18. Require the white tree!
WETA staff, we need the white tree added! It is the simple of royal kings blood! Whitout it the white city is a meaningless big castle. Very expensive for open edition, but ordered anyway. Consider this is much worthy than the Black Tower.

  19. Very Expensive
$599 for an open edition item? Seriously?

  20. too expensive
too expensive. $400 max should be this one's calling ... especially with no limit on the run ... come on weta, bad form.

    Review by

  21. Justification
They try to justify the price by stating that it took 1,000 hours to create this item. Rivendell took 1,200 hours and sells for $200 less. Can't figure that one out.

    Review by

  22. Disappointed
I'm very disappointed with the price of this item. $599 would be a lot of money even if this was a limited edition. For an open ended item, the price is just ridiculous. Greed is getting the best of Weta.

Weta are you laughing about people? Where is the tree?

  26. Very expensive
It makes no sense to ask for this product 599 dollars and Rivendell being more complex and more complicated painting worth 399 Dollars.

I do not understand this price as excessive.
