DISTURBER OF THE PEACE

"You have officially been declared a disturber of the peace."

The famous words, spoken by Frodo as Gandalf enters Hobbiton in his horse-drawn cart at the beginning of The Fellowship Of The Ring, serve to alert the wizard to the modicum of suspicion by which he is regarded by Hobbits after earlier endeavours.

A visiting wizard spells trouble and hobbits tend not to meddle in the affairs of wizards for fear of disruption and upheaval in their quiet little village in the Shire.

The scene is pastoral in a way that only the Shire can offer. Sheep grazing, oak trees, green hills as far as the eye can see and the great wizard opening Bilbo's gate in Bagshot Row.

There are people of extraordinary talent operating in today's world that have similar skills as the great masters of yesteryear. It just happens to be that the canvas that they paint on is the darkened screen of the cinemas of the world.

Richard Taylor - CEO & Co-founder, Weta Workshop

Painted by Ben Wootten, artist, illustrator and former concept designer at Weta Workshop on The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Ben was one of the original Weta crew who produced much of The Lord Of The Rings concept art you may have seen in art books and DVD features.

Who better to capture this tranquil outlook from the hill and towards the lake?

The external dimensions of the print are 23.2 in x 11.7 in (590 mm x297 mm) and the printed area is 20.9 in x 8.9 in (530 mm x 235 mm). A lovely cinematic format.

Printed on good quality 170 gsm satin paper, it will arrive in pristine condition, ready to be framed and hung, pride of place, in your home.

Unfortunately this print got a bit crushed in transport causing damage to the print. Weta support was happy to help, asked for some photos of the damage and offered money back or a new print. Since I'm very happy with the print and the response from Weta I asked for a new print. The new undamaged print arrived to a happy customer.

  6. A must-buy for any Shire fan
I've had this hanging above my desk for a few months and it's an absolute joy to look at. Every inch is incredibly detailed. The sweeping greens of the rolling hills are guaranteed to brighten up your day.

Perhaps the only downside to this print is that it stirs up a desire to visit the New Zealand set every time you glance at it!

Excellent print and quality, as expected from Weta! Congratulations for this marvellous piece of art Mr. Wooten.

The signature itself is very dim and was probably done with a pencil, but still a delightful addition to the print.
