ULTRASWEET’S ARSENAL

Toss out the stevia packs and vegetable medley platters. The F4 ‘Heavy Mantis’ is ULTRASWEET’s forbidden top-shelf candy. Chock full of missiles and a sweet new weapons class, it’s sure to maximise cavities and leave you with an intense sugar hangover. Beware of Artillery Assault: ‘The Jawbreaker’ is all it’s cracked up to be. Also look out for fast-moving Secondary Weapons like the ‘Gobstopper’ and ‘Fizzler Burst’. Guaranteed to make you drool.

SUPERSALTY’S ARSENAL

Not to be outdone SUPERSALTY is also releasing a new flavour into the fight. Packed with an explosive class of Primary and Secondary Weapons, SUPERSALTY’s Heavy Hitter, the MK-45 ‘Alligator’, is worth its weight in sodium chloride - but hey, don’t be caught calling it that, poindexter. This isn’t science class. The only way you’re getting extra credit is by dominating that battlefield! And you know how to do that, don’t you? Send your Support Units to put the salt in full-frontal assault!

  1. A lack in QC
As you can probably tell, these two extra factions are pretty damn expensive at around 85% price of the regular game. I knew that it wasn\'t a great deal, but I figured that I love playing GKR, so the price would be fine. However, a pet-peeve of mine is consistency. The cards that come with each faction in this deck is noticeably inferior to the base game\'s card quality. You can see it, and more unfortunately, you can feel it. For something that costs this much and to have Weta\'s lack of quality control on something that you\'ll be handling the entire game is both negligent and insulting. Other than that. The miniatures are as fantastic as you\'d expect. If it wasn\'t for the cards, this would be a 5* review, as a huge fan of the game. I dropped it down to 3* for the price combined with the poor quality. If I\'m paying a premium price, I expect a premium product.

  2. Why so much for so little?
I love GKR: Heavy Hitters but as much as I want this expansion I can\'t justify the cost based on the contents. It\'s barely cheaper than the base game and has much less than half the stuff.

  3. Can\'t get enough
I love this game, everything about it, the models are fantastic and the game play is brilliant so this expansion is a must for me and so glad to grab it in the sale.
Gave it 4 stars because the box and tray quality isn\'t as good as the original game and the cards don\'t seem to be cut as nice as the one from the base game but the colours on the cards are amazing and clear also the quality of the GKR\'s are brilliant and this turned but 5 days before it said it was meant to be delivered by DPD (my favourite delivery company), changed to 5 stars while writing this, keep looking at the models and everything and the pros for me are just out weighting the box cons.

Really looking forward to any more content weta make for this

  4. Omission
Got this at Gen Con, not knowing that it was being released, and completely blown away that it even existed. Automatic purchase! The price did make me blink, because it is much higher than the base game, but I did not hesitate. The figs are more ornate, definitely distinctive, but the two factions slip right into our games smoothly. Solid! The two definitely play differently from the base 4, and are a lot of fun. I do hope for more expansions, because I\'d like to see how else the team can expand upon the system! The only disappointment for me is that this set doesn\'t have any of the Wasteland upgrades for the new factions: No sentry guns, no upgraded tags... This seems like a bizarre omission, especially considering the pricetag. Still, GKR is one of my few games that I love to play back to back, and look forward to additional surprises.

  11. More options for an awesome game, Steep Price though
If you are a fan of GKR, then you already know how awesome the game is. This adds two new factions to give you even more variety when picking who you want to play. Nice detailed models, with the Heavy Hitter (large ones) already prepainted and the smaller support units cast in the faction color. A great addition to the game.

My only complaint is the price for what you get in the box. I realize that they likely are made in smaller print runs so the price will be a little higher, but the expansion with its two factions costs more than I paid for the whole base game which included 4 factions, the board and buildings, and everything else you needed to play. If they cut the price about in half for this expansion, there would be no question about running out to get it. For the current price though, I would say wait for a sale unless you are a die hard fan and must have them now (like me).

  12. Why the hefty price tag?
I know that Weta is new on board games, GKR: Heavy Hitters was a hit and the retail price seems acceptable for a core game with 4 factions, I did not have to consider Urban Wasteland expansion because I was a backer of the project on Kickstarter (paid only $125 plus shipping on tons of stuff).
Now Weta is coming with 2 more factions, they do look sweet but their price tag looks Salty. Who can justify paying $140 now for only 2 alternate factions? They do not add a 5th or 6th player to the game, does not include a new board/scenario and certainly is not a stand alone expansion. Board games are Not intended to be collectibles, Weta please do not take this route, the average price for expansions in the Board Games world, with few exceptions, is $25 to $40 dollars
