Every so often here at Weta, we get an email or a note or a phone call telling us how a film we've worked on has meant a lot to someone. Perhaps in a difficult time of their life, or just because it's captured a special feeling or emotion for that person.
We're always incredibly humbled by these accounts, because although we always set out to make a difference and pour all our energy, passion and creativity into every project, we can never expect that sort of reaction or result.
A few years back now, we met Edwin Kerstner when he came to New Zealand from Croatia to pick up his Andúril sword from the hands of Weta's Master Swordsmith Peter Lyon.
We knew he was a fan through emails and correspondence. We knew that he'd been making huge sacrifices to be able to afford the sword, let alone come all the way around the World in person.
But little could prepare us for the absolutely incredible document he compiled of his journey, his thoughts and dreams.
