To celebrate the World Premiere taking place here in Wellington, New Zealand on 28 November 2012, Weta has created two items that are sure to become treasured mementoes of the event.
A T-shirt and a Pin. Check out the T-shirt here!
Both feature Bag End, the place where The Unexpected Journey starts for The Hobbit and his companions.
These items are only available to those who have made the long journey to Middle-earth (New Zealand) and to those who already reside here (and have a New Zealand shipping address). They are available to order here online or to purchase in person at the Weta Cave or select NZ retailers.
The pin is engraved on the front with the front door of Bag End, the logo for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the date of the World Premiere, 28-11-2012.
The reverse features the Weta logo bug and the words 'World Premiere Wellington, New Zealand' as well as a copyright statement. See the images.
The pin is made from metal (Zinc Alloy) and comes mounted on a backing card inside a zip-loc bag.

A lovely pin, very solid and durable. The hat clasp at the back however came loose twice on premiere day so for safety I took it off long before the red carpet event started. :-S Hide.

I like that pin and I just tried to order it but than I read this restrictive sentence. It make me sad to be not a part of the NZ pin collectors community, because I was in NZ at the wrong time. I had the oppurtunity to visit 'middle earth' in March and April '12. And of course I've visited the Weta cave and the 'dependance' at Auckland's Sky City to buy the 'One Ring' and 'Nenya'.
It doesn't make any sense to me, that the World Premiere Pin is only sold to residentials while all other pins are shipped worldwide.
Is there any explicable argument from Weta or Warner Bros., why they handle it that fan unlike way?
Australian or other visitors from the closer NZ 'neighbourhood' may get their pin very easily. The other non-NZ fans will be dumpstruck.
BTW: the same restriction is for the World Premiere T-Shirt!
