When will you charge my credit card?

For in-stock order items, your credit card is charged during checkout.

For pre-orders, We will charge your card when your item is ready to be shipped. For In Stock items, that's usually the same day or the day after. For items you have pre-ordered, we won't charge your card until the item is available to ship.

When you place a pre-order on the Weta website:

  • We will not charge your credit card until your item is ready for delivery (but we perform a 'pre-authorisation'* for your pre-order amount against a valid credit card on the day you place the order).
  • On some products, Weta may charge a non-refundable deposit on pre-orders or special orders - this will be explained in detail before you place your order.
  • You may change your mind and cancel an order at any time until we charge your card approximately 2 days prior to dispatch. If you cancel an order where a non-refundable deposit has been taken, this deposit will not be refunded.
  • We will always alert you via email approximately one week prior to charging your card for a pre-order.

* A pre-authorisation is a credit card transaction that allows us to make a charge against your credit card in the future, up to the amount displayed during checkout.

If you cancel your order before an item is in stock, this authorisation expires and we will of course not charge your card.

A pre-authorisation also expires when your credit card expires - if this happens before an item is in stock, you will be prompted to update your credit card details via your "My Collection & Orders" area.
