You're at: Home > Shop > Customer Support > Ordering > What is a pre-order?

A pre-order is an order you can make for a new item before it is in stock and available for delivery.
When you place a pre-order on the Weta website:
* A pre-authorisation is a standard credit card transaction that allows us to make a charge against your credit card in the future, up to the amount displayed during checkout. Your bank will place a temporary 'hold' on the funds on your card, during which time the money may not be available to use, especially with Debit Cards. This hold expires after 4-7 working days after you place your order. If you have any concerns around pre-order authorisations, please contact your bank.
If you cancel your order before an item is in stock, this authorisation expires and we will of course not charge your card.
A pre-authorisation also expires when your credit card expires - if this happens before an item is in stock, you will be prompted to update your credit card details via your "My Collection & Orders" area.
