A proud and noble Dwarf of resolute character and stern bearing, Thorin Oakenshield™ is the grandson of Thror of the line of Durin and heir to lost throne of Erebor. Alongside Moria, Erebor stood as the greatest of the realms of the Dwarves, a vast kingdom carved from the living rock of The Lonely Mountain, bustling with trade and bursting with wealth. Down upon Erebor the great dragon Smaug™ had fallen and the city and its people were engulfed by the inferno of his coming. Thorin Oakenshield and his kin were fortunate to escape with their lives, though they left everything else behind. Their treasure and pride was swept up by the dragon into a pile upon which he curled to sleep, deep inside the mountain.
Throughout the long, hard decades of his exile, Thorin Oakenshield’s mind ever dwelled upon the thought of some day retaking the mountain and restoring his people to their erstwhile splendour. In time he would form a company of Dwarves, thirteen in number and at the Wizard Gandalf’s insistence, reluctantly employ the services of the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins, setting out for The Lonely Mountain with dreams of gold and glory.
Beset by enemies and misfortune, Thorin Oakenshield and his party would lose much along the way, but one prize the grim-faced Dwarf was pleased to lay hands upon early in his journey was the mighty sword, Orcrist™, a famous blade of Elven make and well suited to be carried by a king, if one yet in want of a kingdom.
Weta continues the legacy of producing finely crafted, highly detailed 1/6 scale collectible polystone statues from Middle-earth. The essence of each character expertly captured in every piece.
Thorin Oakenshield was sculpted by Scott Spencer.
It takes approximately 400-500 hours to design, sculpt, model-make, mould and paint the prototype for each new character.
Sculpted and created by the same artists and craftspeople who work on our movies, Thorin Oakenshield™ is one of the first three statues in our range of 1/6 scale characters from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
The statue also comes in an Exclusive Edition that includes Thorin Oakenshield's shield at his side. This was originally launched at San Diego Comic-Con and is exclusively available in person at our Weta Cave store in Wellington, New Zealand or at Ring-Con in Germany 5-7 October 2012.

I love these pieces and they are usually excellent. Thorin was just kind of average and on top of that the four pads on the bottom are uneven so it rocks a bit. I still love it but was a little disappointed- not to WETA's usual standards. Hide.

I am so pleased with this statue. Every detail, down to the splatters of mud on the bottom of his coat is perfection.
Since I can't afford the version of Orcrist that comes with the scabbard I have to point out that it is beautifully displayed here on Thorin's back.
The pose is perfect and it was worth every PENNY! I may not eat for a couple of weeks but I have my priorities in order. ;) Hide.
