At an unveiling this morning to press, crew and invited guests at Auckland Airport, Air New Zealand and Warner Bros. revealed an Air New Zealand Boeing 777-300 aircraft in livery inspired by The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Designed by Weta Workshop concept designers Nick Keller and Gus Hunter, the 220ft (73 metre) long design makes a grand statement for New Zealand and its National Airline.

The design complements the Air New Zealand safety briefing video revealed earlier this month and there is no doubt which airline is The Airline of Middle-earth.

In a speech, Air New Zealand CEO Rob Fyfe also revealed a second Boeing 777 aircraft in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey livery is due to be launched next year in time for the premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
