Smaug™ the Golden is the first sculpture in John Howe's and Weta's range of sculptures from Middle-earth™. The sculpture is based on John's original artwork created in 1990. It was first published on the cover of the paperback edition of The Hobbit by Grafton Books in 1991.

Having adorned the cover of The Hobbit, it is an instantly recognisable image to old and young Tolkien fans alike.

Smaug - the great dragon, at one with his cache and jealously guarding it against the world around him.

The Art of John Howe - Sculptures from Middle-earth™ is a series of sculptures from John's iconic representations of Tolkien's worlds, sculpted by Weta sculptors Daniel Cockersell, Brigitte Wuest and Eden Small under the creative guidance of John Howe and Richard Taylor.

The statue sits on a natural wood base.

What you will receive

• Your bronze sculpture will be carefully packed in a wooden crate for the safest possible delivery.
• A Certificate of Authenticity signed by John Howe and Richard Taylor.

How to order

Orders can be placed by e-mail or fax (+64 4 380 9256). Please include the following information:

• Your preferred edition number between 1 and 20
• Your sculpture will be made to order, therefore we do require a non-refundable deposit of US$1,000
• Credit card name, number and expiry date (Mastercard or VISA only, please, or enquire about international money transfer or Paypal)
• Delivery address
• Contact telephone number

Edition numbers will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Collecting matching numbers

The first person to secure an edition number by paying a deposit also earns the right to first refusal [valid for one month] on the matching edition number on subsequent sculptures in this series. This means that edition numbers already reserved for Smaug the Golden are also reserved for this piece, but may again become available.

Shipping

Freight costs will be confirmed on confirmation of your order. Freight to the United States is approximately US$500.
Any Import Duties and Taxes due are the responsibility of the Purchaser.

Delivery will take up to 6 months as the pieces will be made to order.
