New Sci-Fi Adventure series by Weta and Chapman Entertainment

The much anticipated co-production from multi Academy Award winning company Weta Workshop and internationally renowned children’s entertainment company Chapman Entertainment was unveiled at MIPCOM Junior in Cannes 11-12 October 2008.

Trooper Tom (working title) is a state of the art animated action adventure series aimed at 6-9 year old boys. This is the first joint project for the two creative companies since they formed a unique partnership to develop a range of groundbreaking children’s’ television properties in late 2007. This sci-fi animation is set on an epic stage with Shakespearean villainy, a wry sense of humor and breathtaking action.

Half human, half robot, all hero - Trooper Tom is a futuristic Pinocchio, an experimental android infused with human DNA, with all the hopes and dreams of a real boy. Get set for an overload of action, speed, heroism and some seriously cool adventures involving the greatest battle machines ever invented in this new 26 x 22 minute animation.

The series is jointly led by Richard Taylor and Martin Baynton of Weta Workshop and Chapman Entertainment’s Creative Director, Keith Chapman.

Weta Workshop, is the multi Academy and BAFTA Award winning company acknowledged as a world leader in its field for its work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong and The Chronicles of Narnia. Weta Workshop recently ventured into children's television with the award winning animated series, Jane and the Dragon, and unveils a new pre-school series the WotWots this year at MIP.

Chapman Entertainment is renowned for its hit international pre-school shows Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car, these follow Keith Chapman’s creation of the global phenomenon Bob the Builder.

Fifi, Roary and Bob currently feature in the UK’s top seven selling pre-school toy licenses (NPD data July ’08) and have enjoyed impressive television sales to over 200 territories. Chapman will also be showcasing their new animated comedy series for 6-9 year olds called Flot and Jet at MIPCOM Junior.
