30 Oct 07 Check out this new design illustration from the Weta design files for the upcoming film in the Narnia series, Prince Caspian!

Weta Designer Nick Keller, created this piece, for the Prince Caspian design and production team, as an example of the final look of Miraz in costume.

Nick says this piece is emblematic of the armour and costuming elements of the character. "I think the main aspect would be that the gold plate armour doesn?t cover the whole body", says Nick. "[Director] Andrew [Adamson] wanted to incorporate the 'brigandine' armour in this piece, so the torso armour extended down to the side of Miraz."

"On this drawing I have indicated the overall look of the pattern work covering the armour", says Nick. "We went with a pattern covering the entire armour, using scroll work which has already been established on the swords previously. That was combined with a repeating scale patten, which was also incorporated on the shield."

The faceplate helmet you see here had been previously designed, and it was a matter of trying in all the aspects to look cohesive together as a costume. The drawing is the one of the last ones in illustrative form, as after this was designed, it was a matter of putting a lot of practical aspects together with the costume department.
