Designers Brad Goff and Nick Keller designed these beautiful pieces of armour for the upcoming Prince Caspian film. For both Nick and Brad, creating pieces for the film was a great chance to try something new.

Brad explains the design process from the initial brief. "In The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Lord Miraz is the Hero Villain and Director Andrew Adamson wanted to create a feel of grandeur, opulance and power with this character. We were given a brief for his weapons, props and armour that was to provide Miraz with a unique, highly detailed and intricately crafted design aesthetic without becoming too precious, as Miraz still had to achieve a tough guy demeanor."

"It was a great honour for me to design this weapon, and to be given the opportunity to create such an elaborate etch pattern design, I just hope that it receives a nice close up on the film for people to see and appreciate the level of detail it has. Aside from the ?wave? inspired flowing scroll designs, the sword features a pictographic story of the history of the Telmarines across the crossbar section. Miraz has this unique bronze detailing throughout his weapons and armour to further seperate his appearance from rest, and this ?hero? sword for the film has the pommel and crossbar/hoops/handguard cast from actual solid bronze."

Designer Nick Keller illustrated Glozelle's weapons. "This illustration shows the dagger after the design had been approved and the pattern work that was used for all the Telmaraine Weaponary. The dagger itself was designed to directly match Glozelle?s sword, making a matching pair."

This dagger, also by Nick, demonstrates the type of character it has been designed for. "In this piece, I used design aesthetics from the first film, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and the Black Dwarf weaponry. The character is quite a 'baddie', so I hoped that the dagger would look quite lethal."

In this illustration, Nick took Reepicheep's character as a literal inspiration! "Andrew [Adamson] wanted a traditional rapier sword with an elegant cut hilt fully enclosing the hand. I thought the concept of creating a personal piece for Reepicheep would be nice, and it turned out he really liked the tail coming around the top!"
