WETA BUG REPORT: 10 July 07 I hopped along to the screening of Jane and The Dragon at Wellington kid's museum, Capital E, this afternoon and had a ball with the kids...

I hopped along to kids museum Capital E here in Wellington, for their afternoon screening of Jane and The Dragon, as part of the exhibition they're hosting during their school holidays on the Weta Productions series.

The screening was packed, and it was amazing to see hundreds of children sit still for the 45 minute session! Afterwards, I had a chat with some of the viewers, such as the quartet above. They said they loved Jane and The Dragon, and that one of the highlights of their day was the colouring in competition Capital E had organised for the attendees.

In addition to the screenings, Capital E also had a number of Jane and The Dragon sculptures and figures on display, as shown here. Kids and adults alike gathered around to see the handiwork of the Weta team.

The special screenings run from 9-14 July, and on Friday and Saturday nights, viewers will be treated to a special talk after the screenings by Theo Baynton and Trevor Brymer, who both worked on the series in depth.

Families are invited to pack a picnic, or perhaps fish and chips for the evening screenings, and enter a medieval world to enjoy this modern fairytale. Capital E also demonstrate how Jane and the Dragon was made, complete with a 16 minute making-of documentary of the animation series.
