
6 July 07 New Zealand district Franklin opened their cultural centre with a special sculpture from Weta.
Franklin residents and dignitaries gathered at Franklin: The Centre for the grand opening on last weekend. Richard Taylor attended the opening of the library, arts and cultural centre.
Weta donated a Bronze Kong Kong sculpture by Artist David Meng for the opening. The piece is one of only two bronzes like it in the world.

Local performers memorized the audience with performances that highlight the cultural diversity of the District. As you can see above, one fan in particular wanted to see if Kong's teeth were sharp after all!
