4 July 07 This week, we reveal King Kong concept artwork from the Weta design archives, and today, meet a character lovingly dubbed 'Ulgor'...
This illustration by Designer Greg Broadmore was an early design for the film. "This was one of the Pterodactyl styled flying creatures I designed very early on, before the final brief came in", explains Greg.
"We found out later that Peter wanted to stay away from Pterodactyls or similar creatures for the Kong's Lair scene and this was one of the illustrations that raised that point. This guy has a Hornbill inspired crest and a bony emaciated look."
Greg's work is currently on display at the Becoming Kong exhibition showing at Wellington museum, TheNewDowse. He'll be giving a Photoshop tutorial in August, to learn more about these cool workshops, click here.
