This illustration, by Designer Stephen Crowe, shows examples of the process the team went through to select the final Hellgate London Weta Collectibles range.
"These were all quick concept drawings, which is why we kept them monochromatic", he says. "We were working with existing characters and creatures that had been created by the client, who didn't need to be be convinced by highly finished concept illustrations - these sketches were all about the composition of the collectible itself. As a result we were able to produce a large number of options for the client in a very short time, from which they could take their picks.
"This sketch has a male Templar character driving his broadsword into the spine of a Carnagor, a demon that can burrow, at the moment it emerges from the ground to inflict its own brand of horror on unsuspecting 'Londonites'. It's not a fancy sword technique from our implacable, armoured friend, but an effective one..."
