1 June 07 Once the youngest member and first female of the Design team, Concept Designer Rebekah Tisch has always had a natural affinity with design. Here she presents some early sketches for Jane and the Dragon.

Rebekah completed an internship at the Workshop after graduating from high school, and she was invited to join the Weta Productions working on concept art for Jane and the Dragon. ?The Jane series was the first thing I ever worked on at Weta?, she remembers. ?It was a very exciting time for me. I saw so many talented people contributing to the series and making it look incredible.?

Here's an early sketch from her Jane portfolio:

"The final design for Jane's Mother", explains Rebekah. "She is a very brisk and sharp lady, and I wanted this to come through in the tightness of her design and headdress."

"This is a costume design for the Merchant", says Rebekah. "I was proud of this design because I only did one drawing and it was approved without any amendments - making it one of a kind for me on Jane and the Dragon!"

Once the Jane and the Dragon project had been completed, Rebekah?s portfolio was impressive enough for Weta to keep her on to become a full-time member of the Design department at Weta Workshop. ?The chance to work amongst some incredible designers and to get better at what I love doing is a great experience?, says Rebekah. ?I've learnt a lot about being a working professional, and Weta Workshop is a great part of my journey to becoming a better artist.?

Rebekah is now working in a small team creating concept artwork for a confidential project. ?We?re working on a top secret totally awesome impossibly cool project?, she smiles. ?I really love seeing other peoples impressive work and learning from it. The fact that we share ideas and influence one another is a really great part of the job here at the Workshop.?
