Greg Broadmore has worked at Weta Workshop as a concept designer and creator of worlds for over 11 years. After meeting and working with Neill Blomkamp during pre-production work on the now defunct Halo movie, Greg moved into conceptual design on the project that grew from its ashes: District 9.
Greg oversaw final conceptual design on the film, and art directed all of the many prop, vehicle and costume builds at Weta Workshop, as well as designing the movies Ships, technology, robotics, armour and weaponry.
Before District 9, he was a designer and sculptor on Peter Jacksons King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Black Sheep amongst many, many others. Greg was also one of the illustrators and concept writers for Weta Workshops first publication, 'The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island'. In 2006, Greg co-designed and art directed the massive Tripod Sculpture in downtown Wellington that commemorates the local screen industry.
In 2006, Weta revealed their Dr. Grordbort's Rayguns range, entirely designed and conceptualised by Greg. Dr Grordbort's Infallible Aether Oscillators blew up across the Internet and was embraced by Wired magazine, Boing Boing, IO9 and others. He has since gone on to launch an internationally touring Dr Grordbort's Exceptional Exhibition, write two critically acclaimed books in this retro-science fiction universe, and is currently expanding the world into new creative frontiers.
