This replica is so realistic that you may think the only reason you can't shoot with is because you haven't alien DNA ! ;) District 9 was an awesome sci fi movie and everybody fall in love with the mecha design. When I saw the movie I pray for a replica of this magnificient alien gun and WETA made it ! The result ? PERFECT work. The amount of details is insane, I love in particular the " living effect" of this alien tech gun. I think it would have been less realistic without these paints effects. My only complain is the lack of a stand to display this awesome replica. So I keep it in the box ! Anyway this is a must have truly. So THX Weta for sharing your work and passion with fans who want to bring in home a small part of this movie universe. :) Also shipping was perfect ! XD Hide.

Something that no one has commented yet is the shipping service WETA uses. This came VERY fast and with a private courier so it was lovingly handled without heavy duty taxes! The gun itself is astounding and as my first WETA I could not be happier. Detail is crisp. Paint is sharp. The rifle is STRONG. Built to last with little fear of it breaking! The weapon is detailed with small components of wear and tear and feels as if it has been smuggled straight out of the real District 9. With only 300 made it is a piece that is truly unique in its own right! We can talk about have-to-have but only if you can afford it. Considering the excellent shipping and service I look forward to dealing with WETA almost exclusively in the future. Why? Simply because they know what a collectors needs are. Hide.

Finally it arrived! At first, the size of the packaged was enough to make me wonder how big it really was :) It did fit in the backseat of my car, but it was a snug fit.
I had to unbox it at work (University IT-Department, filled with nerd ;) and first impressions was awesome. Overall great finish except the silver cylinder "above" the gungrip had a slight misfit. Weathering effects was good (might touch up a few with rust effects), and the weight of the thing was just beastly!
My first purchase from weta (damn you PUSHBAK!!!), and probably not my last. This will go next to my big tv on a wall mount, to bad I never got a chance to get the Arc Gun or Gas Projector. Some symetry on the wall had been nice :)

This is lovingly crafted with very authentic looking battle damage. It immediately grabs your attention with it's striking colour scheme and the sheer size and heft completes the realism. Well done Weta.

I can't stop looking at my D9 Assault Rifle!! In some ways it's even better than the Arc Generator. It has sharp details and a great paint job. It's not as weathered as the AG but that doesn't bother me. And it weighs a ton. This is a very solid prop replica and I am very pleased. Weta did an excellent job with this gun and I hope they continue with more. Do not hesitate to get yours. You won't be disappointed. Hide.
